By chance, Aladdin meets Jasmine, daughter of Agrabah’s Sultan, when she dresses as a commoner and flees the palace to avoid her duty to select a prince to wed. He is immediately smitten. Meanwhile, the Sultan’s villainous advisor, Jafar, plots to take over Agrabah and tricks Aladdin into entering the mysterious Cave of Wonders, where he finds a magic lamp and releases its imprisoned Genie. He was heavily influenced by the curved, fluid caricature style of artist Al Hirschfeld. • Computer-generated imagery enabled the filmmakers to create the amazing magic carpet ride through the Cave of Wonders, the intricately-patterned carpet itself, and the stunning tiger head cave. • The film won Academy Awards for Best Song (“A Whole New World”) and Best Original Score. The Copyright Laws of the United States recognizes a “fair use” of copyrighted content. Aladdin
Princess Jasmine grows tired of being forced to remain in the palace, so she sneaks out into the marketplace, in disguise, where she meets street urchin Aladdin. The couple falls in love, although Jasmine may only marry a prince. After being thrown in jail, Aladdin becomes embroiled in a plot to find a mysterious lamp, with which the evil Jafar hopes to rule the land.
